Keystone GIS is committed to a robust geospatial community in PA and has a history of acting on that commitment through the execution of initiatives. Initiatives are essentially Keystone GIS sponsored loosely organized groups of stakeholders tackling emerging topics in geospatial that are especially relevant to practitioners in PA. Past initiatives have included the establishment of statewide data standards in the early 2000's and promoting a coordinated approach for FEMA Map Modernization Program.
We encourage members and interested parties to check out the initiatives below and get involved!
Water Data - Together with the PA Geological Survey we are tackling what the next generation of an elevation coupled statewide hydrology dataset will look like. If you use or just like water related GIS data, check it out!
Pennsylvania LiDAR Working Group - 3D geospatial data generated from lasers in the sky; what you can do with it and why.
Pennsylvania Municipal GIS Professionals (PMGP) - In response to the growing need for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and support in the geospatial field within the state of Pennsylvania, we propose the establishment of a Pennsylvania Municipal Geospatial Group. This initiative aims to bring together cities, towns, boroughs, authorities, and organizations representing these entities to foster cooperation, innovation, and data-driven decision-making. This group is open to both the GIS practitioners and the municipal personnel that oversee them.
