Are you looking for virtual teaching materials to give your students field experiences during the 2020-2021 school year? Bring your class to “Live from the Field: Remote Sensing of Growth & Diversity” next Thursday, April 1st at 1PM to meet researchers from across the country. PaMAGIC President, James Whitacre, will be presenting about his work with UAVs and forest ecology at Powdermill Nature Reserve.

More Information:

The Center for Environmental Inquiry at Sonoma State University is working with The Virtual Field, a global coalition of 50+ field stations and marine laboratories, to create teaching materials and events that bring the field to your students through this portal: thevirtualfield.org. The project is funded by NSF, and its goal is to provide resources for educators (undergrad level target) to engage students with scientists and the natural world virtually.

Materials and events are free, and come with instructor guides and recommended assignments. Concepts focus on human-environment interactions and are applicable to a wide range of disciplines.

We hope you find these useful, and would love to hear from you. Please contact Claudia Luke at lukec@sonoma.edu or Kerry Wininger winingek@sonoma.edu with any questions about this program.
