Registration

  • Students will be required to show an active student ID at workshop check-in.

Building on the introduction to Python for ArcGIS, this workshop will expand on those skills to further use Python in ArcGIS. The workshop will focus on the ArcPy Python site package to expand geoprocessing capabilities with Python. Participants will learn to build geoprocessing scripts using ArcGIS Notebooks covering different ArcGIS tasks and workflows. The workshop will also cover how to create custom script tools in ArcGIS toolboxes for reuse and sharing. Participants will also learn skills for error handling.

Learning Objectives:

  • Work with the ArcPy Python site package for ArcGIS
  • Explore the difference between Python scripts and ModelBuilder models
  • Build and share custom ArcGIS script tools for automation
  • Learn tips and tricks for validating script syntax and error handling

Computer and Software Requirements

Students must provide their own laptop with the following software installed:

The instructor will use ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Notebooks (included with ArcGIS Pro), and Microsoft Visual Studio Code to teach all the material. While the workshop may work with ArcMap, the material is not tested with ArcMap. The instructor will not be able to help with any special setup, so please ensure your software is ready for use at the beginning of the workshop.
